Jan Litzinger started telling stories with pictures when he went to school. Drawing cartoons, he let the school years pass by and ended up with a lousy Abitur report in his pocket. Not much fazed by this, he and two friends formed a band. After a couple of years, the project had grown - the band was now a larger group of musicians with their own recording studio. After more than ve years, this phase of his life came to an end with Jan starting an internship in a small lm studio in Wiesbaden.
Now he spent day and night working with a high-performance computer and aquir- ing 3D animation programming skills. In the following years, he worked as a 3D artist with various studios. In 1998, he landed a job as a motion designer and 3D artist with “Das Werk” in Frankfurt, then one of Europe’s leading post production studios. During this time he created innumerable designs and animations for advertising campaigns, many of them for some of the largest global TV broadcasters and brands, with MTV, ZDF, Mercedes, Audi, Deutsche Bank, Renault and Marlboro among them.
In 2000, he directed his rst commercials. In 2001, he moved to Ludwigsburg to study at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. His rst music video, shot during his time at the academy, won him international awards. Other successful works followed, and his diploma project was nominated for the German First Steps Award as one of the three best student spots in 2004.
In the year following his graduation, Jan Litzinger developed a number of art breaks for the broadcaster MTV, and his work received the Golden Cube at the ADC Annual Awards in New York.
Since then, he has been working as a freelance director for Nike, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Adidas, Nintendo, SAT.1, Prosieben, ZDF, BMW, Volkswagen, MINI, MTV and many other clients. His lms won numerous international prizes.
