Claudia Schröder is a director of photography who was born in East Berlin. She studied at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) and held a scholarship at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles (CalArts).
She first entered the German film industry working as a light trainee and learned how to drive big trucks. Her fascination for cinema and light grew bigger as she took on more responsibilities on set. Next to her studies she worked as a gaffer for commercials and award winning feature films. During that time she acquired a broad understanding of lighting and developed powerful skills to create strong atmospheres with light.
Above all, Claudia is a content driven director of photography. Her visual language shows her clear and focused point of view. She knows where she stands. Regardless of what cinematic or technical necessities the project demands, Claudia knows how to capture the human in front of the lens.
She is experienced in both, analog and digital formats, and can manage any type of shooting environments - be it a big crew set or a one person run and gun documentary style project.
